Montreal-based singer-songwriter, Chris Velan has been playing guitar since he was nine and writing and playing in bands since he was 14. Velan’s collaboration as music producer on the award-winning documentary Sierra Leone’s Refugee All-Stars inspired his 2003 self-produced folk/pop debut, “It’s not what you think”. In 2011, Velan released his fourth full-length effort, “Fables For Fighters”, which was motivated by a range of influences spanning 70s’ singer-songwriters, blues, rock, 80’s alternative, West African music and reggae. In an impeccably balanced album, Velan unites unforgettable rhythms and melodies with unhindered sentiment and subtle delivery.
